The movement for Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) in Michigan is gaining serious traction — and Rank MI Vote is leading the charge. We’re preparing to launch a statewide petition drive to get RCV on the ballot in November 2026, amending the Michigan Constitution to make our elections more fair, representative, and empowering for voters.

In the coming weeks, we expect the Board of State Canvassers to approve our petition language, which will allow us to begin collecting the more than 600,000 signatures needed to qualify. Unlike most campaigns, we’re going grassroots — relying on volunteers across the state rather than paid petitioners. With active supporters already mobilizing across Michigan, our people-powered campaign is ready to make history.

RCV ensures that winners earn majority support, solving problems like vote-splitting and spoiler candidates. In races like the 2022 Democratic primary in Michigan’s 13th Congressional District — where the winner prevailed with just 28% of the vote — RCV would have guaranteed a candidate with broad voter backing.

While we face opposition from some elected officials, our coalition is growing stronger every day. Those elected officials are afraid of being held accountable by the people they represent. On the other hand, we are committed to a system where voters have better representation and more positive, issue-focused campaigns. Join us today!
