Job Description

Phonebanker

Overview

Rank MI Vote, a non-partisan grassroots organization founded by Michigan Ranked Choice Voting activists, is looking for up to 10  phonebankers to work on the front lines of a transformative campaign to upgrade Michigan’s voting system to ranked choice voting (RCV) and give voters more voice in three cities this November. This team  will work with both RankMiVote local grassroots volunteers and Rank The Vote national partners in support of passing RCV in Kalamazoo, East Lansing and Royal Oak.

The phonebanker’s responsibilities may include making calls to persuade voters to support a local municipal ballot question for ranked choice voting as well as make calls to volunteers to join phonebanks and optionally to help all phonebank volunteers make calls. The phonebanker will receive calling scripts and be trained in RCV phonebanking tactics by Rank the Vote staff. They will work alongside volunteers and their phonebanking team on Zoom, and, after gaining experience, the phonebanker may sometimes lead phonebank sessions.

The average phone banker dials 45 to 50 numbers/hr. On our last campaign the average was 54 calls/hr. The minimum we expect is 30 calls/hr.

Location: Remote work from home- with reliable internet connection, personal equipment such as a laptop and phone

Schedule: 6-10 hrs per week generally, but there is potential opportunity for much more should a particular candidate have the capacity and be interested in more hrs per week. Review this in your interview.

Compensation: Paid hourly starting at $15/hr, dependent upon candidate experience.
